Before
troubleshooting, follow up on these 3 essential steps to Multifokus
GP™ fitting
success:
1) Patient must have been given and read a copy of 'Adapting to your Multifokus GP™ Contact Lens'.
2) Review lens parameters dispensed. They should correlate with the fitting guidelines.
3)
If appropriate, try to
wait 5 to 7 days for patient adaptation before making any changes.

VISION
Poor distance or close vision:
First!
Use trial lens
( +0.25 or +0.50 D) over one eye at a time as patient
looks with both eyes at eye chart
or close reading material at 50 cm. Determine the smallest power change to improve
vision.
Second! Adjust power accordingly and refit.
Third! On refit follow up, test acuity starting with 20/30 or 20/40 OU (do not compare eyes).
Reassuringly display smaller letters. Acuity should be safely acceptable to patient and fitter.
IMPORTANT! Remind patient to keep both eyes open for distance and not to compare each eye.

COMFORT
Poor comfort:
First!
Make sure the fit of
the lens is within fitting guidelines
. If so, use lens modifying tools to polish, blend curves
or roll the edge of lenses and dispense again.
Second! Be sure your patient is following wearing schedules.
Third! Refit lenses 0.50D steeper and increase the diameter by 0.2 mm. Adjust power accordingly.
